Over the past few weeks, it feels like we’ve been reporting on leaks more than official announcements. A few months ago, the Pokémon Company suffered a massive leak due to an external hack. However, today’s leaked Pokémon news comes directly from Pokémon GO developer Niantic. According to the leak, a Pokémon Presents and a Unova themed event in Pokémon GO is scheduled to take place on Pokémon Day, February 27th.

witter user Mattyoukhana uncovered the code in a Pokémon GO datamine, but not much additional information is available at this point. It was always kind of safe to assume that a Pokémon Presents would air on Pokémon Day, as it typically does. However, the idea of a Unova-themed event coinciding with it in GO definitely raises some eyebrows. Now, I’m not saying it’s time for Gen V remakes… but you never know!

The bigger question now is whether the Switch 2 will be announced before the Pokémon Presents event—and if we’ll get any exciting Switch 2 game reveals. Given the recent leaks surrounding nearly every detail of the Switch 2 hardware, it seems likely the console will be announced before February 27th. Only time will tell. Stay tuned!
