As seems to be a tradition with Nintendo games nowadays, early copies of Mario & Luigi: Brothership have been leaked online ahead of the title’s official release on November 7, 2024. We already reported on copies out in the wild confirming that Brothership runs on Unreal Engine and was developed by Acquire Corp but having a ROM file out in the wild means that spoilers will now start flooding the internet. If you want to stay spoiler-free for the next few weeks, make sure to avoid sites like Reddit, Resetera, or even Twitter.

Interestingly, it hasn’t been confirmed which emulator is running early copies of Brothership. Just this past year, Nintendo has nuked both Yuzu and Ryujinx from orbit and essentially stopped the Switch emulation scene from progressing. While it makes some sense in the current year with the Switch still being a viable home platform, Nintendo’s actions do not bode well for the future of game preservation. Nintendo has famously been anti-emulation, even if the official Nintendo Museum in Japan utilizes some form of it.

For now, though, be weary of where you get your gaming news and information. There’s a chance you could see some spoilers for Mario & Luigi: Brothership before you actually wanted to.
