It’s finally here! The latest, and potentially greatest, entry in the Mario Party series has just been released. As partygoers dive into this new and exciting adventure, one question immediately comes to mind as the character select screen appears: what about Ninji and Pauline? When Super Mario Party Jamboree was first revealed, one of the most noticeable changes was the massive roster of playable characters, including these two surprise picks. If you’re eager to play as either of these newcomers, they’re thankfully incredibly easy to unlock.

How to unlock Ninji in Super Mario Party Jamboree

Once the tutorial has wrapped up and you’re free to roam around the Party Plaza, head straight for the hot-air balloon. This serves as a mode select for the game, where you can freely control a camera to look around the map. To unlock Ninji, first find the Rhythm Kitchen to the left of the Mario Party mode where you start, and then zoom in on the two small islands to the northeast to spot him standing there. That’s all it takes! Once you’ve zoomed all the way in, a bit of dialogue from Toad will proceed, and Ninji will be fully playable.

How to unlock Pauline in Super Mario Party Jamboree

If Pauline is more your speed, or you’re just eager to get both characters unlocked right away, head into the hot-air balloon at the Party Plaza just like with Ninji. This time, pan the camera to the right to locate Minigame Bay, then zoom in on the small beach island directly west of there. Pauline will be standing next to a beach chair and will promptly join the party after Toad’s remarks!

That’s really all it takes! Unlike many unlockable characters in other games, which can be quite troublesome to get, these two are more like easter eggs. Even if you don’t plan on playing as either character, they’re so easy to unlock that you may as well. It’s nice to see more niche Mario characters making their way into spin-offs, so Ninji and Pauline debuting in Mario Party is quite exciting if you ask us!
