So, you’ve seen the Echoes of Wisdom trailer, and like most of us, you got hyped about the possibility of galloping across Hyrule on horseback. But now you’re in the game, and you might be wondering, “How do I actually find a horse to ride?” Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! Let’s get you riding in style.
Unlocking the Runaway Horse Side Quest
You won’t be able to jump on a horse right from the start. First, you’ll need to finish the Suthorn Ruins dungeon. If you’ve already made it through, head over to the Hyrule Ranch, which is located south-west of Hyrule Castle.
Once you arrive at the ranch, you’ll be greeted by all kinds of animals—cows, an adorable black puppy, and, of course, horses. Naturally, you’ll want to approach one and try to mount it, but sadly, the farmer will stop you and explain that one of their horses has gone missing.
But here’s the good news: if you help find the missing horse, the farmer will let you borrow a horse anytime you want! Sounds like a heck of a good deal to me!
Finding the Missing Horse
Lucky for us, the missing horse is located just west of the Ranch. If you check out the map above, you’ll see the exact spot. Unfortunately, it’s not going to be as simple as just walking up and hopping on—the poor horse is stuck in a pit, surrounded by water and high walls.
But don’t worry, you’ve got the echoes to handle this job! Jump down into the pit with the horse and drop a Trampoline Echo. Once you’ve done that, just mount the horse, approach the trampoline, and bounce right out of the pit!
Horse Reunited
Now that you’ve rescued the missing horse, ride it back to the Ranch and have a chat with the farmer. He’ll be overjoyed that you found their horse and, as a reward, he’ll let you take any horse in the Ranch from now on—except for the white one. That one’s special, but who knows, maybe you’ll unlock it later!
