I don’t have much firsthand experience with the Legacy of Kain franchise, but I heard a lot about it growing up. I was a Nintendo 64 kid through and through, so whenever I flipped through the pages of GamePro Magazine back in the 90s’s, I was always intrigued by the gritty games PlayStation owners were getting. That’s where I got my first peak at Legacy of Kain. It looked dark, brooding, and very different from the games I was used to playing.

A few years later, when I got a Sega Dreamcast as a gift, imagine my surprise when I saw a port of Legacy of Kain sitting on the shelves at my local Toys”R”Us. I was ready to finally dive into Soul Reaver! Unfortunately, my mom thought it looked a bit too “evil” and I walked out with a copy of Crazy Taxi instead. I still didn’t get to play Legacy of Kain, but I developed a long-lasting love affair with The Offspring and Bad Religion instead. A fair trade, I’d say!

That’s why I’m so excited that, after all these years, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is coming to the Nintendo Switch! And this time, my mom can’t stop me!
