Earlier this morning, Spanish gaming website Vandal reported new information provided by a reputable accessory manufacturer regarding the Switch 2.

According to the report, the unnamed manufacturer claims to have interacted with the new console, which was encased in an “opaque box,”. Apparently, they were unable to see the console due to Nintendo’s fear of leaks, but they could touch it to get a better idea of the size and dimensions. The manufacturer described the console as being larger than the Switch but smaller than something like the Steam Deck.

Beyond that, the report suggests that the upcoming console will retain detachable controllers akin to Joy-Con, but will lock on with a magnetic mechanism instead. If accurate, this design choice will likely impact the compatibility of existing Joy-Con controllers on the new console.

Finally, the report indicates that the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller will be supported by the new hardware.

As with all rumors, it’s best to take each one with a modest pinch of salt. However, it’s worth noting that Vandal has a track record of accurately reporting on leaks and rumors in the past.
