It has become fairly well known that The Super Mario Bros. Movie is chock-full of easter eggs and references to the classic video gaming era. That being said, a lot of these small details can be difficult to notice, often only appearing briefly in the background. Fortunately for all but the most keen-eyed of us, Nintendo has released a guide booklet that details these easter eggs one by one.
The booklet was mentioned in an article on the Japanese Nintendo website. As of the time of writing, the guidebook is only available in Japanese. Fortunately, the references are fairly easy to identify for those overseas thanks to the provided imagery. If anyone was able to notice all of these on their first time watching, it’s fair to say that they are a true video game legend!
