You know, everybody always talks about how as soon as Halloween ends they roll out the Christmas (or broader “holiday”) decorations immediately instead of, like, just chilling in November and getting people amped up for Thanksgiving. And there are multiple reasons for that — Christmas is a global holiday while late-November Thanksgiving is strictly American — but I can’t help but wonder if it’s because the holiday season involves gift giving — and thus consumerism — incentivizing companies to start advertising it as soon as it’s palatable.
Anyway, Nintendo is already detailing its Black Friday sales! You can purchase a base Switch + Mario Kart 8 bundle for $300. At select retailers, you can also save $20 on the following Switch titles:
- Mario Party Superstars
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
- Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
- Bravely Default II
As well as 33% off WarioWare: Get It Together and Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain, not to mention a whopping $40 off Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. The deals start November 20th, which is actually the Sunday before Black Friday, which is pretty nice and hopefully a way to circumvent some of the nastiness associated with the event. I mean, they don’t call it “Black Friday” because it’s sunshine and rainbows (and not for the “profit margin ink color” explanation either! That’s revisionist history!). Stay safe out there. And hey, if you live in the US, make sure to enjoy Thanksgiving as best you can.
