It’s been almost a full year since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate received its final big content update, bringing Sora from Kingdom Hearts into the fold. But that hasn’t stopped director Masahiro Sakurai from indulging in his greatest passion: daily screenshots of the game, framing characters in humorous or elegant lights. Here’s just a taste:

Alas, all good things must come to an end, as Sakurai’s announced that yesterday’s screenshot (of a Smash Ball in Battlefield) would be the final one. He’s been posting fairly consistently since December 2019, closing the door on a truly illustrious tenure… but he also says that he’s thinking about starting something new. While cryptic, he asks people to check his Twitter page around the same time today (8 p.m. PT) for more info.
This concludes the daily Smash Ultimate screens I've been posting since Dec. 2019.
Thank you for your support! #SmashBrosHowever…I've been thinking about starting something new. (This time it won't be daily, though.)

Presumably it’s another fun, cute little innocuous project that Sakurai’s gonna have fun with. And the internet will still somehow speculate about Smash characters out of it. We can only hope Sakurai’s next endeavor is him posting pictures of himself on an elaborate vacation. God knows he’s earned.
