Handheld modder and creator GingerOfMods has spent years creating custom portable iterations of Nintendo’s hardware. Inspired by the slew of fake images regarding potential portable GameCubes that circled around the internet over 15 years ago, the creator has turned many Nintendo fans’ dreams into a reality.

Inspired by an archived Joystick article from 2005, GingerOfMods’ portable GameCube draws heavy inspiration from a supposed “Nintendo GameCube Advance” leaked image that the now-defunct website once reported on. The faked model turned to reality even has that glossy fingerprint-magnet-worthy texture and a closing screen!

While plenty of portable Nintendo GameCube models have shown up across the internet in recent years, what makes GingerOfMods’ creation unique is how it once again harkens back to the fake mockups Nintendo fans attempted to spread — this isn’t just a modified shell of another handheld. The system unit contains a sleek look that adheres to the “futuristic” idea many fake image leaks stuck to.

According to GingerOfMods, his GameCube handheld build is also a modified Nintendo Wii playing the previous console generation’s titles through backwards compatibility. For more footage and information regarding GinerOfMods’ portable Nintendo GameCube, be sure to follow the user on Twitter and check out his full YouTube Video that breaks down how exactly the handheld works and its creation process!
