For years now, YouTuber GilvaSunner has continued to upload Nintendo game soundtracks to their channel for other fans to enjoy. From Super Smash Bros. and Kirby to Alpha Dream’s Mario & Luigi titles and The Legend of Zelda franchise, the individual has helped audiences listen to all of their favorite Nintendo tracks through arguably the easiest method possible. In a not-so-shocking turn of events, GilvaSunner has recently been hit with a mountain of copyright strikes from Nintendo — over 3,500 to be exact.
Despite the fact that the YouTuber has never once monetized any of their content, GilvaSunner has been copyright blocked by Nintendo for soundtracks from across all of their intellectual properties. In the first wave of strikes alone over 1,300 videos had been taken down due to copyright, however, GilvaSunner followed up on social media to inform listeners that another 2,200 had been hit as well.
After thinking about this a lot over the past few days, I’ve decided that at this point it’s really not worth it to keep the channel up any longer, and will therefore delete the GilvaSunner YouTube channel (or what’s left of it) this coming Friday.

GilvaSunner has announced that he will be permanently taking down his YouTube channel this Friday, February 4th, as a result of Nintendo’s actions. Even though the YouTuber has acknowledged the decisive decision, GilvaSunner is asking for fans to respect his decision and is thankful for well over a decade of support.
In the past, GilvaSunner has been hit by a notable number of copyright claims from Nintendo over some of their larger titles. Since 2019, the YouTuber has been facing copyright blocks by the company, however, a mass takedown on this scale has never once occurred.
