With so many Resident Evil projects in the works, it’s honestly getting a little difficult to keep track, even as a fan of the series. It hasn’t helped that many of them have long had no release dates attached, but thankfully, survival horror fans can scratch in the upcoming movie premiere to their calendars.

According to a recent tweet by Exhibitor Relations Co., a leading company in entertainment research and data, the movie reboot will launch in theaters on September 3rd, 2021.

The film, which is decidedly much more faithful to the game franchise than the previous Paul Anderson saga of Resident Evil movies, is set within Raccoon City and stars many of the series icons, including Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Leon Kennedy, Albert Wesker, and William Birkin.

This isn’t to be confused with the two Resident Evil TV series currently in the works at Netflix. Infinite Darkness is a mainline CG animated entry starring Leon and Claire and set “a few years” after Resident Evil 4, while another unnamed, non-canonical project follows the daughters of Wesker.
