Arc System Works has been rolling out character sprites for its upcoming crossover game Code Shifter, but this time around the 8-bit throwbacks are going audio. Two brief previews of a pair of music tracks have been shared for the game, bringing the themes of Guilty Gear’s two main characters, Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske, to the fold. They may not sound as metal as you might remember in this form, but the melodies are intact and bode well for the rest of the characters. Have a listen:

Expect similar treatments for characters from BlazBlue, River City, and more to get in on the retro sound. Code Shifter is set to come to Nintendo Switch and other platforms Q1 2020.
