It’s still hard to believe but yes, Koei Tecmo is bringing the original PlayStation’s Monster Rancher to the Nintendo Switch. We’ve only had a few scant screenshots to go off of so far, but thanks to TGS 2019 we have a debut trailer, and it’s looking even more like a direct port.

We already know of one big change, however – rather than loading in your personal CDs to create monsters, you’ll instead pick from an online list of discs.

Hopefully we’ll learn of a western release soon, but if you can’t wait, you’ll be able to download the game via the Japanese Switch eShop later this year.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
