Australian YouTuber Karl Jobst is back in the headlines this week after filing a defamation lawsuit against former Donkey Kong record holder Billy Mitchell. If you’ll remember from last year, Jobst lost his previous court case in which Mitchell filed a defamation lawsuit against the content creator. Ordered to pay around $240,000 to Mitchell after the Australian court sided with him, Jobst is now alleging that Mitchell engaged in the “unauthorized appropriation of name or likeness and intentional infliction of emotional distress” against him.

Filed on April 6th, 2026, within the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida, which is where Mitchell lives, Jobst claims that his status as a content creator and his “reputation for credibility and trustworthiness” was negatively impacted following the decision. He states that his earnings from YouTube videos have declined in the year since the verdict was rendered. Jobst also alleges that public comments made by Mitchell about his crowdfunding campaign are false, stressing that Mitchell made the statements “with knowledge of their falsity or with reckless disregard for the truth.”

As evidence, Jobst cites a post on Twitter where Mitchell claims Jobst “engaged in serious illegal activity before and during” the bankruptcy process. Reportedly, Mitchell also claimed that Jobst created a GoFundMe campaign “with the knowledge and intent to fund the existing lawsuit on false premises.” Further, the complaint includes a statement from one of Mitchell’s livestreams in August 2025 where he states Jobst “scammed his viewers out of 200,000,” before doubling down and saying, “He actually scammed his viewers out of more than $500,000.”
