After announcing that 007 First Light, the first James Bond video game in 14 years, would be delayed into May 2026, IO Interactive has now confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 port of the game won’t be launching alongside the other platforms next month. No, players on Nintendo’s newest console will need to wait a bit longer to get their hand on Bond’s grand return, with IOI stating it will be available “later this summer.”

The news came from a tweet on the official First Light Twitter account, though details are mum. If I had to guess, it’s likely for optimization purposes. While Hitman World of Assassination ran pretty well on Switch 2, it did have a number of problems at launch. Those were eventually patched out, but there are probably some lingering issues with the engine that are preventing 007 First Light from being ready for May.

We have yet to see any direct Switch 2 footage of the game, so I’m cautiously optimistic about its performance. IO Interactive has been dedicated to Hitman and turned in a decent outing, so I don’t think fans will need to worry too much.
