A new patch has been released for Resident Evil Requiem, bringing a highly requested feature and a number of improvements to the game.

The 1.2.0 update adds a new Photo Mode, which Nintendo Switch 2 users can access at any time by pausing the game and pressing the Y button.

This mode not only lets players move the camera around while the game’s world is paused, it also lets them change the characters’ expressions and poses. It can even be accessed during cutscenes, though only certain ones will let you customize characters.

The full patch notes, published on the official Resident Evil website, are as follows:

  • Photo mode has been added. It can be accessed from the pause menu.
  • Fixed a bug that caused progress to be impossible under certain conditions.
  • Typographical errors in some languages have been corrected.
  • Character expressions in some cutscenes have been adjusted to better convey emotion.
  • A number of issues were fixed to improve gameplay.

The Resident Evil series celebrated its 30th anniversary last weekend, with Executive Producer Jun Takeuchi thanking fans for their years of support.

Requiem quickly became the fastest-selling game in the franchise, with over six million units sold in less than three weeks.

Resident Evil Requiem is available now on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. We said in our review: “Resident Evil may be revisiting the past with this latest entry, but for the most part, it manages to avoid its previous mistakes – and more importantly, capitalizes on what the series does best.”
