After a stupendous first week launch, Capcom is likely over the moon about the success of Resident Evil Requiem. That’s probably why the game’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, took to Twitter to announce that new Story DLC will be coming for the game in the future. While it’s way too early to know what that DLC will even be about, it follows the same pattern that the last main Resident Evil game, RE Village, had. Great first month sales and solid word of mouth led to Capcom eventually greenlighting an expansion. Requiem just got there a lot faster.

As for updates to Requiem that will be launching in the near future, Nakanishi confirmed that Capcom will be bringing “Photo Mode” to the game soon. He also states that around May, a new “mini-game” will be coming to Requiem to keep players occupied as they wait for the main DLC. I imagine this will be Mercenaries Mode, a series staple that doesn’t always launch with each new installment, but typically finds its way there. The Resident Evil 4 Remake, for instance, didn’t get Mercenaries until a few months later, but Village launched with it.
If you don’t mind reading rumors, notable leaker Dusk Golem has previously claimed that Requiem’s DLC will focus on Leon instead of new protagonist Grace Ashcroft’s mother, Alyssa. Supposedly, the original plan was to have some kind of prequel DLC with Alyssa that would tie into the potentially upcoming Code Veronica remake, which does make some sense. Village’s DLC, Shadows of Rose, actually hinted at how Resident Evil 4’s Remake would play by introducing stealth mechanics into the mix, though it is canonically set at the very end of Resident Evil’s timeline.
For now, just know that Resident Evil Requiem will be getting expanded in the future. If you’re just dying to get more Leon action, it won’t be too long before he returns.
