As if you needed another excuse to waste your free time, the 2024 hit roguelike deck builder Balatro is now available on Switch 2 via the Nintendo eShop. Available for free to owners of the Switch port, this new Switch 2 version comes with higher resolution output, mouse controls, and 60 fps support. I’m surprised the original didn’t run at 60 fps on Switch, but it’s also not the most important feature for a deck builder.

As many on Reddit have noted, this is actually not an upgrade in the truest sense. While you won’t need to rebuy the game if you already own it digitally, Balatro on Switch 2 is a separate application. That means save files won’t transfer over, which could be a dealbreaker for some. Considering Balatro has some ludicrous requirements for 100%ing it, I know I wouldn’t want to start from scratch just to have better performance, though this is bound to be updated in the coming weeks.

If you can tolerate that, then I guess this Switch 2 version is for you. It will be available for $15 when the US shop updates, but you can grab it from the German eShop for CHF 13.43 right now.
