Capcom brought its A-game to today’s Nintendo Partner Direct by showcasing not only new footage of Resident Evil Requiem, but announcing that a demo for Pragmata would be available on consoles soon. While currently downloadable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be getting the “Sketchbook” demo later today, and will give players the same sample that PC players had a few months back.

I took a look at that PC demo to see if there was anything we could learn about the Switch 2 conversion from it. My takeaway was that the Switch 2 port has the potential to be the best console version if Capcom incorporates mouse controls. The hacking minigame can be handled with the right joystick, but using a mouse is a lot more intuitive, not to mention aiming guns is simply better with that extra precision.

The Sketchbook demo isn’t particularly long, but it will at least let us know how performance holds up, how the visuals look, and whether the Switch 2 is capable of delivering “next-gen” games that stand alongside more powerful consoles. I’m hopeful that Capcom can deliver on that promise.
