If you happen to live near the Nintendo New York or San Francisco stores, you might want to schedule some free time later this month to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon series. On February 27th, 2026, both stores will be holding an event to commemorate the franchise with undetailed festivities. I suppose it’s far too early to unveil everything, but Nintendo’s own website only has a mere three sentences that don’t explain much of anything.

So what can you expect from the 3oth anniversary event?

Past Pokémon Day events had things like photo ops, big Pikachu’s, and merchandise to purchase. This year, there will probably be a playable demo for Pokémon Pokopia, which is scheduled for release on March 5th, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2. I’m not sure what else the company could do considering the entire country is in the middle of a deep freeze. I suppose Glaceon or Articuno making an appearance wouldn’t be so wild.
