As part of a new overview trailer today, publisher Koei Tecmo has confirmed that Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake will be getting a demo in the near future. Scheduled to release on March 5th, 2026, it’s unclear how much of the game the demo will cover, but it will give us a taste for how much has been changed from the 2003 original. It will also allow for save data transfer to the main game, so it could be quite a chunk of the introduction.

That’s not the only news related to this long requested remake. In addition to pre-order bonuses and all that jazz, some free crossover content with Silent Hill f will be coming to Fatal Frame 2 down the line. Koei Tecmo writes, “A special collaboration is on the way between two Japanese horror titles. Free collaboration costumes are coming as downloadable content. Stay tuned for more details.” Not all that informative, but it’s still cool.

Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake will hit PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2 on March 12th, 2026. Silent Hill f is currently available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. While not confirmed for a Nintendo Switch 2 release, it does seem likely that Konami will wind up porting the game this year.
