Mario’s big-screen voice actor has confirmed that there are still some surprises left regarding The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’s character lineup.
GamesRadar+ asked Chris Pratt if there were any new characters he was looking forward to seeing in the final release, to which he responded, “Oh, yes, there are.”
“I’m not allowed to say what they are,” he continued, “but yes, there are some really incredible… Well, I think some of them have been released in the trailer – Rosalina, Bowser Jr. – and then there’s even a couple more that are not in the trailer that people should be excited to see.”

Yoshi was confirmed to appear in the film after a leak last year, and could be one of the characters Pratt is referring to. There are plenty more from the Mario games who have yet to show their faces in Illumination’s animated universe, from major players like Daisy, Wario, and Waluigi to niche fan favorites like Lakitu, Nabbit, and Wiggler.
Some characters also only had missable cameos in The Super Mario Bros. Movie which could be expanded upon in the sequel, such as Pauline, King Boo, and Diddy and Dixie Kong.

New footage of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie was revealed in December at The Game Awards, showing an extended look at the Mario brothers’ fight with Bowser Jr.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will premiere in theaters on April 3rd, 2026 in the United States, and on April 24th in Japan.
