On January 1st, 2026, Nintendo of America welcomed Devon Pritchard as the new president of the company following previous president Doug Bowser’s retirement. Since taking over, she hasn’t made any public statements or appeared in any videos until last night. As part of the 15th annual New York Game Awards, Pritchard made an appearance in a pre-recorded segment addressing the crowd that was introduced by former NOA president Reggie Fils-Aimé.

“It’s a new year and this year there’s a new president at Nintendo of America, and I think Devon Pritchard is going to be excellent at the helm of Nintendo,” Reggie says at the roughly 58:40 mark in a video posted by the New York Video Game Critics Circle. Pritchard then takes to the screen to introduce herself.

“My name is Devon, and before anything else, I want to celebrate the New York Game Awards. 15 years of supporting the games industry and in doing so lifting up the voices, stories, and dreams of so many,” she says. “This show connects people who are united by a shared belief that every dream matters and that everyone deserves a chance to do meaningful and creative work in games and storytelling.”

While her speech doesn’t make any direct references to Nintendo or throw in teasers for what’s to come in 2026, it is filmed in a fashion similar to every Nintendo Direct presentation. It also gives us a glimpse of how she’ll position herself in those videos, which seems to be front and center with a clear passion for gaming. It will be exciting to enter a new era of Nintendo Directs with her this year.
