The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise turns 35 in 2026, and Sega has announced that it has many plans to celebrate this year.

The company opened a new anniversary page on its official website to mark the mighty milestone, and released a trailer highlighting the blue blur’s many adventures to date.

A press release (via VGC) promises “digital content highlighting Sonic’s evolution across the decades,” new brand collaborations and limited merchandise, live concert celebrations, art exhibits, museum pop-ups, fan meet-ups, and a new podcast.

Marcella Churchill, VP of Sega brand marketing, said she was proud to celebrate 35 years of the franchise with the fans.

“This milestone is not just a reflection of our past, but also a look toward the future as we continue to innovate and grow,” she said.

“We want to bring our community together and create memorable experiences for all our fans throughout 2026!”

Earlier this week, it was announced that a physical Switch 2 version of Sonic Racing: Crossworlds will launch on March 26th. Digitally available now via the Nintendo eShop, our glowing review stated: “It perfects a beloved formula that unfolds across land, air and water while adding space and time for the hell of it.”
