Similar to a few days ago with Pikmin 3 Deluxe, UK’s PEGI ratings board has seen a new listing for Splatoon 3 on Nintendo Switch 2 pop up seemingly at random. Filed on December 31, 2025, it’s unclear whether this listing refers to a brand-new edition or is an incredibly belated listing for the update Splatoon 3 received months ago. The description is identical to the previous Switch 1 release and there is no additional information regarding format or bonus content.

Back in June, Splatoon 3 was updated for Switch 2 with improved frame rates and higher resolution output. It’s actually one of the few games on the console to output in true 4K, giving a remarkably clean image when played on a proper display. With Splatoon Raiders still gestating, maybe Nintendo is prepping a native Switch 2 port to take its enhancements even further. We already know that Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario Bros. Wonder are getting paid updates, so I could see Splatoon following the trend.
Whatever the case, it’s interesting these listings have appeared out of nowhere.
