Over the weekend, a rating for Pikmin 3 Deluxe on Nintendo Switch 2 popped up on the PEGI website. PEGI, or the Pan European Game Information association, is a board similar to the US’ ESA that provides ratings for games based on their content. While a rating on the website doesn’t confirm or deny that a new version of Pikmin 3 is coming, it typically indicates something is in the works.

Curiously, the rating was filed by Nintendo of Europe SE on December 28th, 2025. It carries the same rating as its Switch 1 counterpart, but nothing else is mentioned about this edition. It’s hard to tell if this is one of those new-fangled “Switch 2 Edition” upgrades or merely a free patch with new compatibility. Likewise, it’s also strange that Pikmin 3 would be getting it before Pikmin 4, the latest game in the saeries that released in 2024.
Considering that we know developer Panic Button was behind some of the free Switch 2 upgrades that Nintendo games have received, maybe this rating is signaling a new partnership between Nintendo and the team. Pikmin will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026, so maybe all four of the games will get Switch 2 compatibility to celebrate.
