As was leaked just a few days ago, Larian Studios was present at this year’s Game Awards with a new trailer for the plainly titled Divinity. Mostly a CG trailer that set the stage for the atmosphere the game would have, Larian certainly didn’t skimp out on violent and grotesque content that would fit right at home in an exploitation film. I honestly forgot what was even being shown off for a bit.

While it’s pretty easy to assume this will be another CRPG, without gameplay, we can’t be certain. The trailer showcases a man strung up in a giant wicker man monument while a town indulges in depravity below. There’s lots of partying, imbibing, and sexual content before the vast monument is set ablaze. The man then begins to burn before exploding into a fountain of… something, and cracking a hole in space time. It’s definitely out there.

For the moment, we don’t know which platforms Divinity will be coming to. We don’t even know if Divinity is the game’s name. Considering the last title was Divinity: Original Sin 2, this will likely be the third installment of that. I would be stunned if Larian went back to the original Divinity series, which was more of an action RPG.
