In a now deleted store description on its website, GameStop may have accidentally leaked details about Resident Evil Requiem’s unannounced DLC expansion. As spotted by Dusk Golem on Twitter, a full description for the Deluxe Edition of Capcom’s upcoming RE sequel made mention of not only Mercenaries mode (which kind of seems obvious), but a returning character from a past RE game… and no, it’s not Leon S. Kennedy.
Potential spoilers from here on out…
Now, it was pretty expected that Requiem would be receiving DLC in the form of story expansions. Capcom has been doing that for Resident Evil games since 5 and with the previous installment, Resident Evil Village, getting a full-blown expansion, there’s no reason why Requiem would skip that. What is unexpected is that any potential DLC would involve Rose Winters, the main character of Village’s DLC and the daughter of Ethan Winters, the protagonist of 7 and Village.
The full description posted on GameStop was this:
The Deluxe Edition includes the PC Steam Digital Code, a SteelBook Case, and the following digital content:
- “The Sanctuary” Expansion Pass: Includes 2 new story scenarios and a major Mercenaries mode update.
- “Morphic Visor” Cosmetic Filter: A unique cosmetic look for Rose’s visor.
- “Shadow Walker” Costume Pack: 3 exclusive outfits for Rosemary Winters.
- Digital Artbook & Official Soundtrack
Thus far, Requiem has been stated as not continuing the story of the Winters family, which supposedly ended in Village’s DLC. It’s doubly strange because Requiem takes place in 2028 whereas Rose’s DLC campaign flash-forwarded to 2037. I doubt Rose will show up in the main campaign as she’d only be eight years old, but it’s possible this DLC will be a semi-sequel to Requiem.
Whatever the case, it seems Capcom may have a big reveal in store for The Game Awards this week. Either that or everything here is a misunderstanding.
