2K Games has announced that its acclaimed golf simulator PGA Tour 2K25 will be heading to Nintendo Switch 2 early next year. Set to release on February 6th, 2026, the belated port will bring the entire PGA Tour experience to Nintendo’s hybrid console with all the same features of the PC and next-gen ports. This includes MyCareer mode, cross-platform Societies (i.e. clubhouses), Course Designer, and online modes. There is also an entirely offline option to accommodate the Switch 2’s unique design.
For those unaware of the series, it started off as The Golf Club back in 2014 by indie developer HB Studios. After two successful entries, 2K Games bought the company and tasked it with developing a PGA Tour game under a new name. The first official entry with 2K was the bizarrely titled The Golf Club 2019 featuring PGA Tour, but it then shifted over to simply PGA Tour 2K and has been going ever since 2021. Lots of refinements later and we’ve come to a very solid feeling golf game that has nasty microtransactions tacked onto it.
If you can accept that, PGA Tour 2K25 does have a lot to offer. As 2K mentions in a press release, there’s “EvoSwing” that utilizes the joysticks to mimic the motion of swinging a golf club. You can also fallback to the traditional three-click approach from the old Tiger Woods PGA Tour titles, which is what I prefer. 2K25 also includes three different majors tournaments, including the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club, the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club, and the Open at Royal Portrush Golf Club, as well as 28 officially licensed courses. I can’t leave out that somehow, Tiger Woods also signed on and is playable in-game.
While I’m not surprised 2K decided to port this game to Switch 2, it’s not something I ever thought would actually happen. Hopefully, it’s a decent enough port.
