As part of a livestream a few days ago, Warframe developer Digital Extremes confirmed that the belated Nintendo Switch 2 port of its popular third-person shooter would be releasing sometime in 2026. Some brief footage shows a development build of the game running and, overall, it’s quite nice looking. The frame rate is very smooth, and the game will be utilizing DLSS to enhance the quality of the visuals. Load times are also quick, which should help for getting in and out of quick games.

When will the Switch 2 update release?

There’s no exact timeframe for when the update will hit the eShop, but the team states in the video that it will release “as early as we possibly can in the new year.” I wouldn’t expect a January 2026 turnaround, but it shouldn’t take another full year to arrive. At present, Warframe for Switch is playable on Switch 2 and does perform slightly better than the original console, but having a native port would go a long way. It could even include mouse mode, which would be excellent.
