An official five-piece figure set based on EarthBound – or Mother 2, as it is known in Japan – is now available to order from the Hobonichi store.

The $‌170 set includes the characters from the beloved SNES RPG’s party members – Ness, Paula, Jeff, and Poo – as well as series mascot Mr. Saturn.

The figures are based on the old models used in the Mother 2 manual, which were 3D scanned as a basis for the newly sculpted set. They have been recreated using clay and wire (just as the originals were assembled), and are packaged in sleeves and individual gold-colored boxes.

The set commemorated the “Mother no Katachi” (“The Shape of Mother”) art exhibition from July 2025, held in the Parco department store in Tokyo’s Shibuya neighborhood. The exhibit held all 180 of the original clay figures, which you can see plenty of footage of in Hobonichi’s recent special broadcast.

Mother 2 originally launched in Japan in 1994 for the Super Famicom, with the English-localized Earthbound releasing in the US on the SNES a year later.
