As part of today’s Fallout Day broadcast, Bethesda has announced that a new anniversary edition of Fallout 4 will be hitting PC and consoles soon. In a surprise twist, the company also revealed that a port for Nintendo Switch 2 is in the works for a 2026 release. Much like the other ports, Anniversary Edition will compile the base Fallout 4 game with its six DLC packs and over 150 pieces of “Creation Club” content. That’s a pretty substantial bit of Fallout to play through.

Play Fallout Shelter on Switch today
What’s notable about Fallout 4 coming to Switch 2 is that it will technically be the first time a Fallout game has graced a Nintendo platform. You can download and play Fallout Shelter on Switch, but that’s not the full RPG experience. That is merely a spinoff that takes things in a completely different direction from the main series. With Fallout 4 heading to Switch 2, it opens the door for other games in the series to be ported (likely Fallout 76 will come, in time).
This new version comes just a year after Fallout 4 received a “next-gen” update on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. That version was merely a compatibility update with enhanced visuals, whereas this is more akin to a “complete” or “definitive” release. There’s no price for the game yet, but it should fall in line with the similar Anniversary Edition that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim received in 2021.
