On the official Nintendo Store Twitter account, the company has announced that it will soon be opening its fourth Japanese store in Fukuoka. Appropriately titled “Nintendo Fukuoka,” citizens can expect to visit the store on November 14, 2025. It will be located on the 8th floor of the Amu Plaza mall in Hakata City. As the company notes, this will be the first store on Kyushu island.

Just two years ago, Nintendo opened “Nintendo Kyoto” as its third retail outlet in Japan. It followed a rather quick development of stores in Japan, which began to open with “Nintendo Tokyo” in 2019. Previously, Nintendo’s only retail experiences in its homeland were Pokémon Centers that were dotted around the country. This is despite Nintendo New York, previously named Nintendo World and Pokémon Center New York, having operated since 2001. The move comes as a way for Nintendo to establish a retail presence and bring more awareness to the brand outside of gaming circles.

A look at Nintendo Kyoto merchandising store, opening next week

Nintendo Fukuoka follows alongside the opening of Nintendo San Francisco, which opened this past May. Having been to the New York location many times over the years, it’s definitely a fun trip as a fan of all things Nintendo. If Nintendo starts selling some of the plushes from its museum in these stores, I’m liable to wind up broke.
