What better way to promote the upcoming release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A than by having two wrestlers dress up as Machamp and Hawlucha? I suppose that’s what Nintendo and Mexican wrestling firm CMLL thought, as yesterday afternoon, the two companies teamed up with a specially themed wrestling match catered to the upcoming Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 game.
In addition to the aforementioned wrestlers donning ring attire themed after the Pokémon, the entire ring and arena were outfitted with Legends: Z-A colors and logos. Running for roughly two and a half hours, the event saw some of Mexico’s biggest stars compete in singles and tag matches. The main event consisted of Team Hawlucha vs Team Machamp. In Hawlucha’s corner were Místico, Máscara Dorada and Titán, while Machamp was repped by Volador Jr., Hechicero and Bárbaro Cavernario. I’m not familiar with these wrestlers, but you can watch the entire thing on YouTube. It’s pretty awesome.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A releases on October 16th, 2025, for Switch and Switch 2. It will be followed by a season pass called “Mega Dimension” at some point in the future.
