Over the course of the past year or so, fans of the Dragon Quest series have had it very good. While Dragon Quest XII still seems to be a ways away, the wait has been totally fine thanks to all of the amazing remakes to tide us over. Not only did we get HD-2D remakes of the original trilogy, but thanks to today’s Nintendo Direct, we now have news of an entirely new one. The long-awaited remake of Dragon Quest VII, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, has finally been confirmed, and it’s headed to Nintendo Switch 2 early next year!
The trailer kicks off with a zoom in to the island of Estard, the last known island left in the world of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. It continues with a look at this beloved story retold in a brand-new style reminiscent of the artwork for the original game. With these enhanced visuals to capture the magic of the original in a brand-new light along with the wonderful story to go along with it, the game is looking great already.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined release date
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is headed to the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 5th, 2026. Pre-orders are available right now, and as a bonus for pre-ordering you’ll be able to get a special outfit for the hero, as well as some helpful items to go along with it.
