While Nintendo hasn’t revealed the extent of Mario Kart World’s physical sales to the world, we know it’s at least doing incredibly well over in the UK. On last week’s physical game sales chart, Nintendo’s latest kart racer has reclaimed the top spot after being knocked off it last week by the release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. I suppose a lot of people were eager to see the return of Big Boss, but once they got their hands on it, they were fine jumping back in a kart and traveling the Mushroom Kingdom.
Interestingly, MGS Delta dropped to third despite its strong start and was not only dethroned by Mario Kart World (which climbed back up from second), but EA Sports FC 25. All three games are still going strong, however. Mario Kart World has also been up and down the charts since its release, so it hasn’t been consistently at the top as newer releases have come and gone. What is shocking this past week is that NBA 2K26 debuted at 14th, which is not what you’d expect from such a popular sports series. Even the long-anticipated Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots came in at 15th, which is not bad for such a niche series, but is stunning for the amount of hype it had when announced.
The rest of the charts are about what you’d expect from current releases. Cronos: The New Dawn, which is Bloober Team’s take on Dead Space, debuted at four, and action/adventure game Hell is Us came in at six. The rest of the chart is stuff like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Donkey Kong Bananza: games you would expect to have long legs.
