Rounding out the end of today’s Nintendo Partner Showcase presentation was the reveal of a new title from Square Enix.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is presented in a similar visual style as Octopath Traveler and Live a Live. However, unlike those turn-based titles, this new RPG features action-focused gameplay. Players also take on the role of a singular hero, rather than a party of characters.
After a set of ruins with mysterious markings is discovered, the adventurer Elliot sets off to investigate. He must venture outside the Kingdom of Huther, which is protected from monsters by a “Spell of Safekeeping,” and explore Philabielda, “a continent overrun by beast tribes.”
Our hero can wield seven different types of weapon – including swords, bows, and chains and sickles – which can all be upgraded with Magicite. Elliot is also accompanied by a fairy companion, Faie, who can attack and pick up items. You can control both Elliot and Faie separately, or each can be assigned to two players in a co-op mode.
Time travel seems to play a major role in the story, as the trailer opens with a mysterious door that allows those who enter “to travel a road spanning centuries.” The narrator also teases an adventure that “will span a thousand years.”
The Adventures of Elliot Demo
A playable demo for The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is now available to download on Nintendo Switch 2 via the eShop. A post-play survey will also arrive at a later date to allow players to submit feedback.
