After almost a decade of absence from Nintendo’s platforms, WWE 2K is finally back on Switch 2, but its belated port is bringing up memories of the Wii U era. As people have discovered from playing WWE 2K25 on Nintendo’s new handheld, the long anticipated port is missing a pretty big community feature. On every other platform, players can not only share their create-a-wrestlers with each other, but they can upload custom images to really customize their wrestlers. On Nintendo Switch 2, those features are absent.
Custom image uploading is maybe not the worst exclusion as 2K Games does routinely prune the uploads for offensive content (even if offensive is rather nebulously defined… and you can still find offensive images just by browsing), so player creations don’t last too long. That probably came down to Nintendo’s policy on user-created content, which likely meant it was never going to appear in this port. The bigger exclusion is the ability to share wrestlers cross-platform as that is a major selling point in WWE 2K. Create-a-wrestler has always been a highlight of WWE titles and when 2K finally opened it up to everyone regardless of their console of choice, it gave users the chance to take their wrestlers wherever they went even if their friends didn’t have the same platform.
Cross-platform sharing had limited application, so PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S could share, but not with PC. PC could only share with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which seems to miss the point. Either way, Switch 2 is now in its own ecosystem for WWE 2K25, and it’s not the best look for this late port.
