Capping off today’s Pokémon Presents stream, Nintendo revealed that it will be selling a Pokémon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 bundle for the game’s launch in October. Available on October 16th, 2025, the bundle will include a no-thrills Switch 2 along with a full game download of Legends. Similar to the Mario Kart World bundle, it will retail for $499.99, meaning it’s roughly $20 cheaper than getting the system and game separately (if we don’t factor in regional tax). That’s not such a bad deal if you really want Legends: Z-A.

What’s odd, however, is that this bundle isn’t already available at retail. I’m guessing that has to do with how Nintendo handles pack-in games now. For those who couldn’t get the Mario Kart World bundle, there is no code in the box. When you set up the console with your profile and navigate to the eShop, it will prompt you to download the game that is registered to your console’s serial number. The game isn’t perpetually locked to that serial number, it just verifies it for the first download before it gets added to your Nintendo account. While that cuts down on the time it would take to enter a code, it also means you can’t resell the code if you don’t want the game.

Long story short, this redemption method is probably why Nintendo isn’t putting this bundle out sooner. There likely isn’t any way to have a digital pre-order go live for buyers of the bundle that wouldn’t then screw over people who grab it after launch. Either that or I’m overthinking something that most people won’t care about. Either way, this bundle will be available for the game’s release date.
