With the Nintendo Switch 2 about to turn two weeks old now, it’s safe to say that the system has been a massive success. With record-breaking sales in such a short time, the demand for the console is truly tremendous. While the supply has mostly been able to keep up, such a high-value product is bound to attract some attention from those with less-than-upstanding intentions. That’s precisely what happened when nearly 3,000 Switch 2s were stolen from a semi-truck just last week.

In the middle of transit from Nintendo of America’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington down to Grapevine, Texas, the driver of the goods realized something alarming. At a truck stop in Bennett, Colorado, the driver noticed that at some point multiple pallets worth of Switch 2s had been stolen from the trailer. When exactly this went down remains a mystery, as the crime was not discovered until sometime after the fact. In total, 2,810 Nintendo Switch 2s were stolen, with an estimated value of over $1.4 million lost.

With the location of the incident remaining unknown, it’s hard to say if or when the suspects will be caught. If they are, they could face multiple felony charges for a crime of this degree. The driver stated to the police that he did not know what exactly was in the trailer, only knowing that it was games or toys of some kind. The investigation is still ongoing, though it is going to be very difficult to nail down the exact location. If anyone out there has any information that could point deputies in the right direction for solving this case, the tip number is 720-874-8477.

As exciting as the debut of a brand-new system is, there are always those who aren’t able to join in right away. From supply issues to scalping, there are a myriad of obstacles that face such highly-anticipated releases like this. When adding in incidents such as this massive loss into the equation, that makes everything even more difficult. Hopefully the police will be able to find out more and put this case to rest, but only time will tell when there’s such little information to go off of.
