The launch week for the Switch 2 has seen Nintendo’s latest device put up some incredible numbers by any measure. With the device becoming the fastest-selling console of all time and even launching in Japan to nearly one million units (which might be higher if we take My Nintendo Store sales into account), it seems the device is off to an incredible start. Well, the hits don’t stop coming as Nintendo has now confirmed that its successor device is moving units faster than the original did at a rate of 2-to-1.

In a statement given to IGN, Nintendo explained that for its first four days of sale, the Nintendo Switch 2 has moved twice as many units as the original Switch did back in 2017. As the outlet notes, the original Switch sold around 2.74 million units in its first month on sale, which is really impressive, but certainly not 3.5 million in four days. It’s hard to say if the console will keep up this sales momentum, but by all accounts, Nintendo has another hit on its hands.

If we break things down by region, the only area where the Switch 2 seems to have fallen behind a little is in the UK. While Nintendo confirmed that the device is the fastest-selling Nintendo console in the region, it didn’t beat sales numbers of the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series consoles in the same time frame. Still, it’s not like the UK isn’t excited about the Switch 2 and the console is likely to become an even bigger hit as the months continue.
