The Switch 2 is finally out in the wild and people are discovering a bunch of hidden features Nintendo didn’t reveal ahead of launch. One such is that those brand-new wireless GameCube controllers actually have more functionality than originally advertised. As spotted by Wario64 on Bluesky, the new GameCube pads feature gyro support for playing Switch games. As you can see in the included video, someone is manipulating the camera in Splatoon 3 with it.

Now, this could be some hoax, but I sincerely doubt that. For one, there is already another YouTube video from GVG that showcases the feature working in Metroid Prime Remastered and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. For two, the Nintendo Switch Online pad does have extra buttons on top to accommodate play in other Switch 2 titles. It is missing the Minus button, which would be problematic for some games, but is otherwise just a Switch Pro Controller. It stands to reason that it would work just fine with Splatoon 3, so if gyro is supported by the game you’re playing, you won’t need to swap to another gamepad.

Honestly, this is a cool feature and I have no idea why Nintendo didn’t advertise it ahead of time.
