The long-awaited release of the Nintendo Switch 2 is now just one day away! With a myriad of titles for the original Nintendo Switch getting updates in preparation for the system shift, it’s looking like the transition is going to be very smooth. That being said, a handful of games won’t be making the jump quite as easily, from startup issues to Joy-Con limitations and even a select few that won’t be available at all. Fortunately, the full list of these games has been updated, so we can see what to expect right away.
As a note, the vast majority of games available on the original Switch will be fully functional on the Switch 2, with a 98% success rate for third-party titles as of the latest update. That being said, there are six titles that will not be available at all on the system:
- Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit
- Niconico
- ABEMA
- Hulu
- Crunchyroll
- InkyPen
In addition to these, there are a select few games that do function on the console, but require the use of the Joy-Cons from the original Nintendo Switch:
- Ring Fit Adventure
- 1-2-Switch
- Everybody 1-2-Switch!
- Game Builder Garage
- Nintendo Switch Sports
- WarioWare: Move It!
- Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 01: Variety Kit
- Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 02: Robot Kit
- Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 03: Vehicle Kit
While the above entries are the most limited, there are a few more with other compatibility issues that have been addressed by Nintendo. These lists are mostly comprised of third-party titles, and fall into one of three categories, the first of which are games with start up issues on the Switch 2:

The second criteria of issues are those which start up fine on the console, but have other unspecified in-game compatibility issues. The list of these is as follows:
Lastly, there is a published list of titles which feature some issues but are planned to be resolved at some point in the form of a software update. It’s unclear whether or not this means that these will be the only games which receive a fix for these compatibility issues, but at the very least these are the ones in progress right now:
Any software not included in any of these lists are likely to be fully compatible with no new issues! The limitations largely extend to third-party titles and games which rely on features/physical compatibility exclusive to the original Nintendo Switch, such as the various Nintendo Labo entries. Overall, it seems as if the jump to the Switch 2 should be smooth sailing once the release date finally arrives!
