An update to Nintendo’s parental smartphone app has added support for the Switch 2, in preparation for the console’s launch next week.

Nintendo announced Version 2.0 of the Nintendo Switch Parental Control App on its technical support profile on Twitter today.

According to GoNintendo, the patch notes for this update are as follows:

  • Nintendo Switch 2 systems can now be linked to the app.
  • Settings related to the GameChat feature have been added. If you allow your child to use GameChat, you can manage which friends they’re approved to chat with and decide when they can use video chat.

The app allows parents and guardians to monitor their children’s gaming on Switch consoles in order to foster a safe environment. Users can set restrictions on play time, online communication, and what games their kids can play.

Nintendo Switch 2 will launch worldwide on June 5th.
