Over the course of the Switch’s lifecycle, Nintendo eventually remembered that most people have smartphones and introduced a feature to its companion mobile app that allowed users to upload their personal screenshots to the app for easier transfer. You still had to initiate it, but at least you didn’t need to go through Twitter or hook up a USB cable to directly move them from the console’s internal memory. With the Switch 2, however, that process is going to become even more streamlined as Nintendo will finally include the option to automatically upload screenshots to its mobile app. Progress!

As spotted by OatmealDome over on Twitter, a recent update to the Switch app has revealed that the Switch 2 will feature the ability to automatically upload captured screenshots to the app if the user opts in. If enabled, the app will hold up to 100 files for 30 days so that you can transfer them to your computer or social media accounts. If you upload more than 100 files, the oldest ones will be overwritten. I would also assume that once 30 days is up, those files will be deleted to make room for the next batch of uploads.

For most people, this new feature won’t be a big change or even something they know is available on the system. It also won’t replace directly connecting a USB cable or removing the SD card from the system to transfer things. Still, it’s a nice feature to have and one that should prove very convenient for the people that do enjoy sharing their screencaps.
