With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 just over two weeks away now, the demand for the system is as high as ever. For as long as the console has been rumored to be in development, the anticipation among the greater gaming community has kept on rising. Keeping all of this in mind, it’s natural to expect that the estimated sales figures for the system are very high, and as the release draws closer, those estimates seem to only be getting higher. The most recent predictions even suggest that the system could sell up to 20 million units in the first fiscal year alone!

According to Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda, Nintendo’s initial estimate of 15 million sales in the first year might be too small. Based on the high demand from pre-orders and the sales lottery put out by the My Nintendo Store, he expects a figure closer to 20 million by March 26th. Yasuda previously predicted that the Switch 2 would sell up to 5 million units in the first week alone, which would be groundbreaking numbers for a home console. If these predictions hold true, Nintendo could see profits of up to ¥2 trillion in the first year alone, with ¥3 trillion being very possible within the first three years.

While there’s no way to be certain on the exact numbers, it does seem very likely that the Switch 2 will see an extremely successful opening week. If the trends do go as anticipated, then it seems safe to say that the Switch 2 will live up to its predecessor’s immense success. One can only hope that they’ll be able to keep up with the high demand, but only time will tell in that regard.
