In an exciting new announcement this morning, The Pokémon Company has revealed that it will be bringing the “Pokémon Field Museum” exhibit to the United States next year. Set to premiere on May 22nd, 2026, at Chicago’s Field Museum, patrons will be able to view fossils of ancient real-life animals alongside fossils of different Pokémon from the games.

On the official Pokémon website, a description reads, “During your visit, you’ll see vibrant Pokémon models side by side with extinct lifeforms from the Field Museum’s collection—including scientific casts of Field Museum dinosaurs like SUE the T. rex and the Chicago Archaeopteryx next to Fossil Pokémon like Tyrantrum and Archeops.” The idea is that children can learn about the real world while engaging with their favorite hobby in a more hands-on manner.

The Pokémon Fossil Museum is an in-person experience that originally debuted back in 2021 in Japan. At various museums across the country, visitors were able to compare and contrast dinosaur fossils with Pokémon fossils and learn more about where the inspiration for specific creatures in the games came from. There’s even a fun introductory video that shows off what the exhibit looks like.

The in-person experience will be debuting in Chicago next May and will eventually spread to different museums across the United States. There isn’t any extra information at the moment, but you can learn more about the exhibit and buy tickets on the official Chicago Field Museum website.
