It feels like eons since a Madden game has last graced a Nintendo console, but EA is finally going to change that this year. Recently announced as part of the slate of titles heading to the Switch 2 this year, Madden 26 will be available on Nintendo’s latest console alongside its rival platforms on August 14th, 2025. Pre-orders are currently available on Amazon, and while you can’t pre-order it digitally just yet, a “physical” version exists… just that it’s a game-key card. Gross.
What makes this such a historic moment is that Madden hasn’t been on a Nintendo platform since Madden 13 back in 2012. Surprisingly, EA did release Madden on Wii U, but that launch year was about the extent of EA’s support for Nintendo’s ill-fated first HD console. Madden had been a staple of the Wii generation and even kept going until Madden 12 in 2011, but with the Wii U practically flopping on launch, EA cut its losses and kept Madden on Xbox and PlayStation for 13 years (it eventually came back to PC, too!).
