As part of the third-party lineup of titles coming to Switch 2 during today’s Direct, Nintendo announced that Koei Tecmo will be developing a new Hyrule Warriors game for the console. As many expected while playing through Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the newest game would tackle the Imprisoning War that Zelda had the unfortunate luck to be a part of. In a way, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment acts as a side story to Tears of the Kingdom.
There wasn’t much else revealed about the game, though we could tell from the trailer that this title will run much better than Age of Calamity did. I’m honestly a bit surprised that Age of Calamity wasn’t revealed to be getting a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade, but I imagine that’s because Age of Imprisonment’s development took precedent. That should help tremendously with co-op, which ran horrendously in the original game.
Anyway, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will be releasing on Switch 2 this winter. It will probably be ready in time for the holiday season.
